The Department of Social Work at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for fall 2026 to teach MSW 540 Field Instruction I. The course is a 3-unit class has one 2-hour class each week of the 15-week semester and is taught in a hybrid format (half of the courses will be online and the others are in-person at the San Marcos campus). The course is scheduled for Tuesdays 8:30am-10:20am and also involves site visits with student practicum agencies.

Course Description

First course of a foundation two-semester sequence. Supervised practice in a social services or related agency developing basic micro mezzo and macro skills with an emphasis on culturally informed social work practice. Field seminar and 16 hours weekly supervised agency field experience.

Minimum qualifications:

  • A Master of Social Work degree
  • Five (5) years of post-MSW experience.
  • Five (5) years of applicable post-MSW full-time practice experience working in direct practice social work settings.
  • Experience in supervising MSW students/recent MSW graduates in a social service setting.
  • Per the California State Universitys Out-of-State Employment Policy the CSU is prohibited from hiring employees to perform CSU-related work outside California. Working within the State of California is a condition of employment.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) licensure.
  • A doctoral degree in Social Work or in a closely related field.
  • Experience in teaching university classes and with instructional technology.
  • Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate intercultural competence and a commitment to serving our campus community as it relates to teaching and as applicable service.

Salary commensurate with degree level and experience

  • Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $5507 - $6677 per full-time month

The salary schedule information for the Lecturer Academic Year Classification is available based on the following ranges:

  • CSU Classification Salary Range Lecturer A - AY: $5507 - $6677 per full-time month

The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range commensurate with education and experience.
