Leave of Absence Specialist

Job Summary
The successful candidate is responsible for supporting the organizations leave of absence programs ensuring compliance with federal state and local regulations including ADA FMLA and related employment laws. This role also collaborates on the interactive process for reasonable accommodation and provides guidance on restrictions and accommodations. The ideal candidate will enhance operational efficiency ensure compliance and create a positive employee experience.
Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end administration of leave programs including FMLA ADA accommodations medical leave and state-specific leave policies.
- Support the interactive process to evaluate and implement reasonable accommodations under ADA and related laws.
- Work with employees managers HR business partners and legal counsel to assess restrictions and develop solutions that align with business operations.
- Document accommodation requests outcomes and ongoing case updates in accordance with legal and organizational guidelines.
- Stay current with trends and changes in federal state and local leave and accommodation laws including FMLA ADA and state equivalents.
- Serve as a resource for guidance on the appropriate processes requirements and policies regarding leaves of absence and accommodations.
- Process incoming calls emails and system notifications regarding leave of absence and accommodations updating employee records in the HRIS system and other tools as appropriate
- Responsible for utilizing the tools provided to maintain compliance with federal state local and company specific leave policies
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications :
- Bachelors degree in Human Resources or related field.
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience in absence management handling disability and leave claims return-to-work programs and reasonable accommodations.
- Knowledge of FMLA ADA PWFA and other leave and accommodations-related regulations and requirements.
- Experience working with HRIS systems preferably Workday.
- Must have strong disposition toward customer service.
- Proven aptitude for computer-based leave transaction processing.
- Experience working for a third-party disability vendor (STD FMLA or Workers Compensation) and overall claim management experience preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products including Word Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong capacity to operate in a flexible dynamic environment where creative thinking is required.
