This position is designed to manage and support all technical aspects of the initial phase of Canvas implementation and district-wide deployment. This part-time benefits-eligible consultant role will support the initial implementation of Canvas LMS across the Needham Public Schools. Working in collaboration with the Instructional Technology Team IT Services/Applications Team and other district offices the specialist will act as a critical bridge between IT and the Media and Digital Learning (MDL) department.
Responsibilities
Serve as a consultant for the technical implementation and district-wide deployment of the Canvas LMS platform acting as a key internal resource for technical configurations and workflow optimization in collaboration with the MDL and Applications team.
Serve as the primary technical liaison between Information Technology and Media and Digital Learning (MDL) regarding the Canvas LMS.
In collaboration with the Director of Instructional Technology and Innovation provide specialized training and direct 1:1 coaching for Technology Integration Specialists and other technology staff as needed.
Resolve technical help desk tickets related to Canvas encompassing technical support break/fix issues and instructional strategy inquiries as assigned.
Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of Instructures Canvas LMS Platform including platform configuration accessibility features reporting/analytics and Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) management/setup.
Proven technical knowledge and experience in LMS administration and implementation.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills for cross-departmental engagement.
Strong technological proficiency particularly in MacOS and Google Workspace environments.
Additional Information
Schedule/Work Hours: 11-month contract from August 1 2026 to June 30 2027 excluding state and federal holidays. This is a 0.6 FTE position: 7 hours a day for 155 work days. Salary: Independent contract Grade H: $51603 - $59003.
