Join our dedicated Scientific Support team at Unity Lab Services providing tailored lab services and supply management. We seek an enthusiastic Lab Specialist to be responsible for chemical inventory lab support functions like glasswash and scientific support such as buffer preparation ensuring labs are well-stocked compliant and operate efficiently.

A day in the Life:
  • Works effectively with a diverse cross functional team.
  • Perform area audits and participate in audit readiness exercises.
  • Maintains records to comply with regulatory requirements utilizing current Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Collaborate with management respond to client request and support cross-functional issues.
  • Coordinates staff and manages workload to achieve or surpass productivity benchmarks for Unity Lab Services.
  • Acts as subject matter expert to answer employee customer and sales representatives questions and resolve problems.
  • Supports cross-training of associates and onboarding of new hires.
  • Follows established safety and environmental guidelines and procedures for all work performed.
  • Identify and support implementation of continuous improvement projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Keys to Success:
Education
  • Bachelors Degree (BS/BA) from an accredited college or university with an emphasis in a scientific subject area (Biology Biochemistry Chemistry Molecular Biology or related field) preferred.
  • 2-year degree with 1-2 years laboratory experience.
Experience

1-2 years of work experience in a lab setting required.

Proven record of leading and mentoring teams formally or informally

Knowledge Skills Abilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications (Excel Outlook Teams).
  • Strong attention to detail organizational skills and a safety-first approach.
  • Proven excellence in customer service and communication.
  • Decision making problem-solving organization and time management skills
  • Ability to read and understand SDS documentation and DOT labeling requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and delegate tasks to others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
Physical Requirements / Work Environment
  • The role primarily involves working independently at customer sites which may include areas with chemical-based allergens like penicillin and tetracycline.
  • Personal protective equipment such as lab coats coveralls facemasks and steel-toe shoes is often required.
  • The position requires regular lifting of 30-40 lbs (up to 50 lbs occasionally) and using equipment like pushcarts and forklifts to move up to 100 lbs. Standing walking and manual material handling of chemical containers are frequent activities sometimes in varied temperature environments.
  • Overtime work may also be necessary.
  • As a condition of your employment with Thermo Fisher Scientific you must successfully complete and satisfy Thermo Fishers pre-employment screening (including background check and drug test) and any customer-mandated screening credentialing or badging requirements. Compensation and Benefits

The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in California is $25.60$38.00.
