Lead Retail Pharmacist Cascade

The Lead Retail Pharmacist accepts the responsibility and accountability for theaccuratecontrol of andappropriate dispensingof all prescription and non-prescription medications as required by the Iowa Board of Pharmacy.Ensuresappropriate counselingof patientsregardingtheir medications. Supervises the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy. Leads colleagues in standards of quality of care inventory control and intraand interdepartmental communications.

Assistswith selecting developing andmaintaininga team of competent staff. Holds self and team accountable for achieving the highest level of quality of care customer service and employee satisfaction and recognizes the contribution for desired results. Driven to meet and exceed customer expectations.

• Performs duties with flexibility adapting to changing schedules and needs of the customers prioritizing workload accordingly

• Managesschedulefor pharmacists technicians and support personnel at site of responsibility.

• Manages timecards and approves payroll for pharmacists technicians and support personnel at site of responsibility.

• Counselspatientsreceivingprescription medications non-prescription medicationsdevicesand supplies asappropriate whileprotecting their health and drug information.

• Provides information to medical staff concerning all aspects of clinical pharmaceutical

• informationpertaining tothe patients care and well-being keeping in mind the

• confidential nature of all such information and communication.

• Monitors patient medication therapy for pharmaceutical care parameters and documents (as

• required) theappropriate findings recommendationsinterventionsand outcomes.

• Coaches andmaintainspositive behaviors approaches attitude and commitment to interpersonal service toward patients visitorscustomersand co-workers.

• Assistsin the development of policies and procedures related to pharmaceutical services

• Shares in the on-call and weekend rotation responsibilities.

• Coordinates colleague training development and education in area of responsibility for all colleagues pharmacy residentsstudentsand interns.

• Completes colleague evaluations for area of responsibility annually.

• Recruits screens andparticipatesin the interview andselectionof new pharmacy colleagues.

• Assistswith coordinating student and resident rotations and activities.

• Attends meetings andparticipatesin committees asappropriate.

• Actively leads training of new colleagues.

• Ensures all state and federal laws surrounding theappropriate securityand control of and dispensing of medications are followed inareaof responsibility.

• Responsible for inventory maintenance ensuringappropriate inventorylevels ordering and security of inventory including CII perpetual inventory logs and yearly inventory counts.

• Actively leads andparticipatesin quality and problem-solving activities with other pharmacy staff and other hospital departments.

• Maintains required department confidentiality and abides by HIPPA regulations.

• Provides competent patient care to the above-indicated patient populations by obtaining and appropriately interpreting data makingappropriate decisionsbased ondemonstratedknowledge of age-specific growth and development and appropriately adapting procedures and treatments.

• Takesan active role in enhancing ability to carry out job functions through personal and professional/job-related growth and development andparticipatesin medical center and/or departmental education programs.

• Supports and abides by all medicalcenter departmental and safety policies and procedures. Proactivelyidentifiessafety concerns surrounding the work environment.

• Performs other responsibilities as requested by Retail Pharmacy Supervisor or Pharmacy
