Job Summary
THIS POSITION REQUIRES A BACHELORS DEGREE IN EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION CHILD DEVELOPMENT OR A RELATED FIELD.
The Lead Teacher is responsible for providing a safe and developmentally appropriate preschool program in accordance with all Office of School Readiness program guidelines. Lead Teacher will have 187 days of service. The Lead Teacher will provide 180 days of service to the children and 7 days of Pre-K related activities (including Pre- and Post-planning staff development classroom set-up and take down). The teacher is expected to work and be compensated based on 7.5 hours of work per day which includes 6.5 hours of instruction and 1 hour of planning with auxiliary teacher.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Create implement and evaluate the curriculum with comprehensive lesson plans and necessary materials to ensure premier quality and innovation.
- Maintain continuous contact with parents over the summer for the upcoming school year
- Provides a developmentally appropriate classroom environment that reflects the childrens learning and growth
- Responsible for managing classroom maintain control and serve as a role model with clear rules for safety and mutual respect age-appropriate discipline methods and a program that demonstrates knowledge of child development.
- Keep parents apprised daily of room activities and/or childs progress.
- Maintain accurate classroom records and emergency contact information maintaining confidentiality of information provided by parents staff and administration.
- Display a positive attitude that is conducive to good public relations.
- Knowledge of Office of School Readiness policies and procedures.
- Monitor and document children progress including daily input the required information for GOLD and other ODR requirements.
- Implementing DAP activities and instruction creating a safe and stimulating learning environment and collaborating with families and other professionals to support children development
- Lead family involvement activities as required by OSR.
- Ensures all Teaching Strategies Gold check points are met.
- Carries out 2 parent conferences a year.
- Assist Director with maintaining DHR licensing.
- Ensures DECA-P evaluations are completed on each child
- Ensures all ASQs are completed on each child.
- Maintain clean and organized classrooms
- Participate in required OSR and DHR training.
- Participate in professional development opportunities as well as on-going in-service and educational development opportunities provided by YMCA.
- Any other task that may be deemed necessary by Program Director and/or OSR teaching coach.
QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
All lead teachers must be 21 years of age or older; must have Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education Child Development or a related field. Must have training specifically in the early childhood field. At least 30 hours of in-service professional development and training annually including 12 hours at the Early Childhood Education Conference. All degrees must be from an institution that has received regional accreditation.
CERTIFICATES AND TRAININGS:
- Current CPR First Aid/AED or within 30 days or hire
