Job Summary
TITLE: Lead Kitchen Aide
FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt
PURPOSE: Assists and oversees the preparation and cooking of nutritious meals for all children enrolled in LCCAP Early Learning Programs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent with a commitment to become ServeSafe certified within 90 days of hire.
Experience: Experience in cooking and preparing food.
Skills Abilities and Knowledge:
a. Ability to assist in preparing and serving a variety of foods.
b. Good personal hygiene and housekeeping habits.
c. Ability to operate kitchen appliances.
d. Ability to supervise and support operations of the kitchen
e. Proficient with technology (ex: computers tablets etc.)
REPORTS TO: Nutrition Coordinator
SUPERVISES: N/A
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Mental Concentration: Must be attentive to details.
Interruptions: Occur periodically.
Physical Effort: Must frequently stoop crouch and bend. Occasional lifting up to 25lbs. Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Special Demands: Current PA drivers license and access to a vehicle.
Special Requirement: History verification showing free of child abuse state and federal criminal record. Act 33 34 FBI Fingerprinting and National Sex Offender Registry search completed. Pre-employment staff health assessment (including Mantoux TB screen) completed staff health assessment renewed biennially. Familiarity with safe food handling sanitation and storage procedures. Proficient computer skills. Pediatric FA/CPR renewed biennially.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties may include any or all the following. This list is intended to be representative.
1. Adheres to agency wide policies and procedures to meet grant regulations and requirements
2. Implements regulations and standards required for program operation such as Head Start Performance Standards PKC Regulations DHS Licensing Requirements Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) guidance and STARS standards
3. Maintains a commitment to professionalism and compliance with the programs Standards of Conduct
4. Participates in ongoing training and professional development required by the Head Start Performance Standards PKC Regulations DHS Licensing Requirements and/or STARS standards
5. Assists Nutrition Coordinator by monitoring inventory and providing daily directions to kitchen aides & dishwashing staff
6. Leads daily kitchen operations by ensuring/maintaining timely preparation & service of meals/snacks in a clean sanitary and organized work area
7. Performs other related cleaning duties as required on behalf of the agency
8. Plan and coordinate food production schedules for multiple classrooms
9. Manage food ordering processes including vendor communication and supply inventory records
10. Ensure adherence to CACFP regulations sanitation standards and local health codes
11. Enforce proper food handling storage and preparation procedures
12. Manage and track childrens food allergies and dietary restrictions implement safe food substitutions and ensure staff awaren
