JobSummary

Odyssey House Louisiana Inc. is seeking a full-time Lead HarmReduction Trainer for the Prevention Program. Monday-Friday 8am-5pm with some weekends. The Lead Harm Reduction Traineris responsible for the research development and delivery of harm reduction/overdoseprevention training programs to community partners and organizations in NewOrleans Lake Charles and Bayou Vista areas conducting street outreach referringindividuals to OHL services or other appropriate community resources and representingthe Prevention Program at community outreach as determined by the Project Manager.

Responsibilitiesand Duties

It is the duty and responsibility of the Lead Harm ReductionTrainer to:

  • Develop harm reduction training material and data tracking tools
  • Leads various community and OHL client naloxone trainings toproviders pharmacists and CBOs;
  • conduct ongoing regular research relevant to the Program grantgoals;
  • conducts QA to harm reduction trainer;
  • inform community members on naloxone use and access throughcommunity outreach events;
  • conduct street outreach outreach events trainings at OHLtrainings at partner agencies as directed by Program Manager;
  • conduct data entry and gathering as directed by Program Manager;
  • assist in the development and implementation of a naloxoneawareness campaign to priority populations (Pharmacists Prescribers CommunityMembers and OHL Clients);
  • maintain updated work calendar naloxone training calendar andoutreach calendar;
  • maintain comprehensive documentation of all activities for datacollection;
  • present potential partnerships with Program Manager for approval;
  • responsible for administrative tasks as directed by ProgramManager;
  • responsible for training preparation facilitation andevaluation;
  • refer individuals to the OHL for primary medical care andtreatment services;
  • refer individuals to the resource guide as needed;
  • assist with special projects as directed by the Program Manager;
  • organize workload to complete responsibilities in an appropriateand timely manner;
  • adhere to ethical practices by striving to perform in a mannerthat conforms to the highest standards of ethical behavior integrity andhonesty;
  • take initiative and responsibility for decisions as an individual;

Qualificationsand Skills

Required:

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent
  • Excellent communication interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with the community served by the Agency
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
  • One year experience providing health education to various populations.

Preferred:

  • Skilled and experienced in delivery of health education topics todiverse populations
  • Knowledge of various healthcare issues affecting the communityserved by the Agency
  • Bilingual English/Spanish English/Vietnamese
  • Familiarity with the community served by the Agency
