Job Title: Program Lead Behavioral Health 2026-27 School Year

Classification: Specialist

Supervisor: Director of Special Education

FLSA Status: Exempt

Summary:

Under the direction of the Director of Special Education the Program Director Behavioral Health provides coordination leadership and oversight of the Districts behavioral health program. This position supervises behavioral health staff supports implementation of student services and collaborates with schools and community partners to improve student outcomes. The Program Director may be required to work before or after the contractual year and will be compensated at the per diem rate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Primary Role

  • Supervises Behavioral Support Specialists and School Social Worker.
  • Coordinates behavioral health services across the district.
  • Supports school teams in implementing behavioral and mental health practices.
  • Develops and implements program procedures and service delivery systems.
  • Monitors the effectiveness of services and supports continuous program improvement.
  • Provides guidance and support to staff regarding behavioral health practices.
  • Coordinates and delivers training and professional development for staff.
  • Collaborates with district leadership school administrators and community agencies.
  • Assists in recruitment onboarding and retention of behavioral health staff.
  • Supports crisis response and problem-solving related to student behavioral needs.

Professional Preparedness and Growth

  • Improves professional skills through in-service workshops district meetings continuing education etc.
  • Goal setting and cooperative planning with the supervisor.

Communication Skills

  • Regularly communicates with parents students colleagues and supervisors in writing and verbally in a professionally appropriate manner.
  • Actively listens to concerns problems or issues and formulates a professionally appropriate response aligned with the Medford School Districts core values.
  • Encourages and builds strong school-to-home and community partnerships to better serve all students needs in the Medford School District.

Organizational Responsibilities

  • Maintains accurate records and documentation as required.
  • Coordinates and collaborates with school staff district leadership and community partners.
  • Provides complete data to the school and district administration as requested for management purposes.
  • Cooperates with and supports faculty members.
  • Observes the spirit and intent of the rules and regulations of the school and school system.
  • Assumes necessary non-instructional responsibilities.
  • Encourages parent participation in school programs and activities.
  • Shares the responsibilities with all other employees for promoting the educational goals and developing public acceptance of the school system.
Marginal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Sets up room for various activities and cleans up after the activities completion.
  • Answers telephones answers questions or takes messages and forwards them to the appropriate person(s).
  • Assists with school-wide events.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Supervises assigned behavioral health staff.
  • All Medford School District employees supervise students and maintain a safe environment.
