Lead Engineer- Integrated Plant Design

Job Summary
Plant Integration executes a robust process of conceptualization design and optimization of systems. This consists of identification and quantification of system requirements creation of alternate system design concepts performance of design trade studies selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. Plant Integration is an essential function that proceeds from concept to production to operation.
Plant Integration impacts departmental operations and is responsible for planning and execution. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required but this is typically with guidance.
Essential Responsibilities
- Conducts overall product system and component integration activities.
- All design and deployment activities are concerned with how to integrate in order to deliver the best product(s) for the user.
- Conducts activities with product and system requirements plant-level specifications and design requirement flow down.
- Facilitates and drives interface between multiple areas of the organization including Project Product Engineering Sales Licensing etc.
- Has knowledge of best practices and how different areas integrate with others.
- Uses judgment and has some ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated challenges with technical variety.
- Uses technical experience and analytical thinking.
- Uses multiple internal and external sources outside of Plant Integration team to arrive at decisions.
- Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements.
- Explains information; develops skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering capacity preferably in nuclear power.
Eligibility Requirements
- The preferred work location for this role is at the GVH Headquarters in Wilmington NC Atlanta GA.
- This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
Desired Qualifications
- Strong communicator with excellent writing and verbal skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work in customer/partner facing environment.
- Strong technical experience in commercial nuclear power generation specifically boiling water reactors.
- Knowledge of BWRX-300 highly desired.
- Experience integrating highly technical and diverse engineering teams and functions. Cross-functional collaboration experience.
- Knowledge of working within a regulated environment (nuclear).
- Strong facilitation skills. Ability to drive initiatives and impromptu efforts.
- Knowledge of quality standards and systems (e.g. NQA-1 and ISO 9000).
- Strong organization skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- Prior experience in project delivery and working within a matrix environment.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and cope under pressure.
- Master or doctoral degree in an engineering or technical discipline may be considered a plus.
