- Plans crew workflow and determines priorities;
- Schedules assigns oversees and reviews work;
- Establishes and maintains crew procedures;

- Conducts or assists in conducting performance evaluations;
- Acts as liaison with operating units agencies and outside officials regarding unit policies and procedures;
- Ensures supplies and equipment for crew are adequate by reporting shortages to supervisor;
- Performs full range of duties as outlined in Custodian class specification;
- May make recommendations on policies or standards;

- Experience working in a healthcare environment that operates 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
- Experience supervising housekeeping or custodial staff in a healthcare setting.
- Experience training and mentoring custodial staff.
- Experience with the Joint Commission and Department of Public Health Environment of Care standards.
- Experience interacting with surveyors and inspectors.
- Experience with equipment such as floor buffers carpet cleaners and mops.
- Experience stripping and waxing floors.
- Experience with maintenance protocols in a healthcare environment including oversight of custodial operations monitoring cleaning quality and supporting quality assurance inspections.
- Incumbents in this class must have adequate physical strength stamina physical agility and visual and auditory acuity and must maintain such physical fitness as to be able to perform the duties.
- A physical examination may be required.
