Job Description

The Lead Contract Management is an experienced professional managing the end-to-end contract lifecycle for Takeda Oncologys Pricing Value and Access contracting process. This individual serves as a subject matter expert and key partner to internal stakeholders ensuring that contracts are executed with precision in compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies and in alignment with approved business strategies.

PVAs primary commercial contracting customers include health plans Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs) specialty pharmacies group purchasing organizations (GPOs) wholesalers and contracting encompasses State Medicaid and the VA Federal Supply Schedule. The Lead Contract Management is comfortable navigating across these customer types delivering high-quality timely contract solutions that support access to Takedas oncology portfolio and ultimately improve patients lives.

How you will contribute:

Contract Lifecycle Management

  • Manage the full contract lifecycle from initial business case development through negotiation execution and ongoing contract administration escalating complex or high-risk decisions to leadership as appropriate.
  • Draft review and negotiate Market Access agreementsincluding health plan PBM specialty pharmacy GPO wholesaler distributor Medicaid and VA Federal Supply Schedule contractsin accordance with approved guidelines and strategies.
  • Draft term sheets for new contract offers and prepare high-quality customer correspondence and communications.
  • Identify and flag high-risk contractual terms and escalate exposure and liability concerns to management and account teams in a timely manner.
  • Ensure contract files and supporting documents are accurately tracked organized and maintained in accordance with company filing processes.

Stakeholder Partnership & Compliance

  • Partner with Market Access account teams during contract negotiations to align on terms conditions and commercial strategies.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Legal Finance Government Pricing and Contract Operations to ensure proposals and contracts are prepared accurately and on schedule.
  • Respond to inquiries from customers and field account managers regarding contract program specifics and performance details.
  • Provide guidance on contract interpretation to support compliance with particular focus on payment accuracy forecasting implications and reserves.
  • Work with Government Pricing and Contract Operations to ensure appropriate price reporting validation and payment calculation in the Model N revenue management system.

Policy Process & Market Intelligence

  • Maintain and update contracting policies procedures and workflow processes continuously seeking best practice solutions and embracing new technologies to support an agile operating environment.
  • Review and interpret reimbursement strategies including price protection arrangements and communicate these effectively to internal teams and customers.
  • Remain current on healthcare reform developments payer landscape dynamics and regulatory changes that impact contracting across managed care PBM specialty pharmacy government and exchange channels.
  • Support periodic business reviews with internal leadership and customers by preparing relevant contractual background analysis and documentation.

Governance Support

  • Actively support Pricing Committee and Contract Governance Committee meetings as a prepared subject matter expert contributing PVA contract insights and supporting the development of meeting materials and documentation.
  • Support the Business Case process by providing contract-related analysis and context to inform decision-making.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree with 7 years of pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry experience with a background in Market Access contracting or a closely related field is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in contract drafting review and negotiation within a pharmaceutical or managed care context.
  • Strong knowledge of the pharmaceutical reimbursement environment including managed care PBM specialty pharmacy and government contracting channels.
  • Experience supporting or participating in U.S. product launch activities is required
  • Experience in oncology is highly preferred.
  • JD or legal background is a plus.
  • Contract Management: Independently applies contract management principles across routine and moderately complex situations; understands legal risk and escalates appropriately.
  • Negotiation: Skilled negotiator who can execute contract negotiations and advise account partners on terms and positioning.
  • Analytical Thinking: Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills; able to evaluate complex deal structures reimbursement strategies and risk considerations.
  • Communication & Influence: Executes clear professional verbal and written communication; capable of influencing without authority in a matrixed cross-functional environment.
  • Stakeholder Orientation: Demonstrates strong service orientation and the ability to manage multiple internal and external relationships effectively.
  • Integrity & Compliance: Upholds ethical standards and conducts all contracting activities in strict accordance with company policy and applicable regulations.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable working across diverse customer segments and pivoting among competing priorities

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$154400.00 - $242550.00


The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position years of relevant experience specific and unique skills level of education attained certifications or other professional licenses held and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical dental vision insurance a 401(k) plan and company match short-term and long-term disability coverage basic life insurance a tuition reimbursement program paid volunteer time off company holidays and well-being benefits among others.
