The Lactation Consultant provides assessment assistance and support related to infant nutrition with a focus on breastfeeding for infants adult and adolescent mothers and their this role you will promote positive health outcomes through education guidance and compassionate support during the early stages of infant feeding and maternal care.

- Provides assessment assistance and support of infant nutrition particularly breastfeeding to infants adult and adolescent mothers and families.
- Provides education to staff and physicians as well as to the community.
- Works closely with physicians and staff and promotes collaboration and communication.
- Participates effectively in the daily operations of both inpatient and outpatient care.
Education:
- As required for certification and licensure.
- BSN or Bachelors degree in related field preferred.
Skills:
- Demonstrated ability of expert interpersonal and communication skills with colleagues patients families physicians and the community.
- Demonstrated ability to teach effectively.
- Keyboard skills and ability to navigate electronic health record (EHR) applicable to job responsibilities/functions.
IBCLC Certification through the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBCLE) is required.
Recertification through IBCLE is required every 5 years.
Current state Lactation Consultant license is required for all employees who perform this job in the state of Oregon.
