Laborer, Sr. Public Works
Job Summary
The Stormwater Management Division is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Senior Laborer. This role combines utilizing essential technical tasks with some leadership opportunities. Specific duties will include:
Taking a leading role in the construction maintenance and repair of municipal stormwater drainage systems including catch basins pipes culverts and channels.
Assuming supervisory duties and leading crew members on-site as assigned.
Understanding and following specific instructions and direction.
Ability to perform heavy manual labor.
Essential job functions will include but not be limited to:
System Maintenance: Inspecting clearing and repairing stormwater structures including drain inlets manholes channels ditches and detention basins.
Construction & Repair: Laying storm sewer pipe pouring/finishing concrete for curbs and headwalls and build retaining walls.
Crew Leadership: Providing direction on-the-job training and oversight to less experienced laborers. Acting as the crew supervisor when necessary.
Equipment Operation: Safely operating heavy and specialized machinery such as dump trucks backhoes excavators skid steers and snow removal equipment
Safety & Compliance: Ensuring compliance with traffic control standards (flagging)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
HS Diploma or GED
Ability to perform heavy manual labor and follow specific instructions
Experience operating various landscaping equipment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience operating heavy construction equipment.
Possession of a valid Class B CDL.
PAY RATE: $23.49 per hour
