Job Summary

The general laborer performs a variety of tasks during their probationary period including but not limited to department housekeeping observing and working in various workstations and training on assigned machinery. During the probationary period the laborer will bid into the specific job openings within the facility.

Duties and Responsibilities

As a Laborer for the Mill Department (Packaging and Shipping of Salt Products) your responsibilities will include:

• Tasks such as cleaning sweeping sanitizing cleaning bins unloading package material supplying fill stations with packing materials labels or boxes making trash bales etc.
• Filling paper bags with salt guiding them through a sewing head to seal them and palletizing the finished products
• Driving a forklift to move product in the facility
• Assisting workers of higher classification in performing their tasks.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous manufacturing experience preferred.
• Individuals wanted to participate in improving their workplace and be actively engaged in Safety Sustainability and Quality.
• A safety mindset and commitment to ones own safety and those of their fellow co-workers.
• This is a 24/7 Union Environment Days/Hours/Shift worked is determined by seniority.

A primary responsibility of this position is to adhere to all food safety quality safety and environmental regulations and programs. This includes the company federal and state guidelines to ensure we provide a safe work environment for all employees and visitors and drive continuous improvement for all FSQR and EHS programs.
