Job Summary
Job Profile: Ceramic Lab Technician Level 1
Position Summary:
Use various handheld and bench mounted measuring devices to determine product quality. Measure assess and record data for a variety of processes and material production methods in a Ceramics lab.
Essential Functions:
- Cut and collect test coupons from thermal processes
- Conduct dimensional checks on kiln process control keys and test bars for multiple facilities
- Perform destructive tests for kiln process control and material certifications for multiple material mixes and for PCC foundries
- Operate x-ray diffraction (XRD) dilatometry MOR (modulus of rupture) and SAG equipment
- Enter test data into spreadsheets and/or databases
- Conduct calibration on process control equipment such as hydrometers and thermometers
- Must follow and adhere to all safety procedures
- Maintain department standards for housekeeping/6S
- Other duties as assigned by supervision
Required Skills:
- Must be able to read write and do basic mathematical problems
- Must be detail oriented and well organized
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
- Must be self-directed to accomplish goals with minimal supervision
- Must have good interpersonal skills for dealing with customers and internal employees
- Must be computer literate familiarity with Excel a plus
Experience & Education
- High school education is preferred
- Prior lab experience is preferred
