As a Lab Support Technician I youll be an essential member of the care team ensuring laboratory specimens are collected processed transported and documented accurately and efficiently. This role combines patient interaction specimen collection administrative support and laboratory operations in a fast-paced healthcare environment dedicated to delivering outstanding patient care.
Skillfully obtain laboratory specimens using safe accurate and professional collection techniques.
Ensure patient comfort and provide exceptional customer service during specimen collection.
Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and laboratory confidentiality standards.
Follow all laboratory policies procedures and safety guidelines.
Process label transport and refer laboratory specimens according to established procedures.
Support laboratory reporting data entry and scheduling functions.
Ensure timely and accurate handling of specimens and laboratory documentation.
Assist in maintaining efficient laboratory workflow and operations.
Provide outstanding service to patients providers coworkers and external customers.
Support Mercy Signature Service standards through every interaction.
Communicate professionally and effectively with all members of the healthcare team.
Maintain accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of laboratory support.
Complete required departmental competencies training and checklists.
Demonstrate commitment to quality safety and continuous improvement.
Perform duties in accordance with organizational mission values and service standards.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Successful completion of the probationary period.
No active disciplinary actions or performance improvement plans.
Ability to provide excellent customer service and maintain professionalism in all interactions.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
College-level coursework in Chemistry Biology or other science-related fields.
Previous experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Interest in laboratory science and patient care.
