MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Set up and tear down instructional life science laboratories and laboratory practicals including equipment models specimens slides reagents and other materials.
• Prepare solutions media cultures specimens and other laboratory materials as directed by faculty.
• Support microbiology laboratory preparation sterilization cleanup and appropriate disposal of biological materials.
• Maintain clean and perform routine troubleshooting of microscopes and other laboratory instruments and equipment.
• Maintain inventories of prepared slides models specimens chemicals equipment and other laboratory resources.
• Maintain and monitor inventories of consumable and non-consumable laboratory supplies and communicate purchasing or replacement needs.
• Receive organize and rotate laboratory supplies and maintain accurate inventory records.
• Clean and maintain laboratories preparation rooms storage areas equipment and instructional materials.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance and calibration and coordinate repair needs with the appropriate supervisor.
• Maintain appropriate chemical biological safety equipment and laboratory documentation.
• Ensure proper storage and disposal of chemical microbiological biological sharps and other laboratory waste.
• Assist with chemistry and other science laboratory preparation and maintenance as needed.
• Ensure compliance with applicable laboratory safety regulations institutional policies and procedures.
• Work with faculty to improve laboratory organization preparation procedures equipment and instructional support.
• Perform other duties logically associated with the position as assigned.

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED.

Preferred Qualifications: Associate degree or higher in biology life sciences chemistry or a related field and/or experience working in a science laboratory setting. Experience with microscopes microbiology techniques laboratory equipment inventory management and laboratory safety is preferred.
