Job Summary

JOB SUMMARY:

Performs routine technical tasks and simple laboratory procedures to support the work of technical and professional laboratory staff.

JOB DUTIES:

40% - Participate in general lab maintenance including but not limited to: media preparation maintenance and optimization of lab protocols and other general lab tasks 60% - Independently conduct and coordinate laboratory experiments including but not limited to: anaerobic microbial isolation microbiological assays media preparation molecular methods (DNA extraction PCR sequencing) participation in lab meetings maintenance of an up-to-date lab notebook entering data prepare / analyze / present data (such as at lab meetings conferences or for manuscripts)

Minimum Requirements:

A high school diploma and work experience in a related health care setting or in a clinical or research laboratory setting; or 12 semester hours of academic training in biology and/or chemistry; or registration as a Certified Laboratory Assistant by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or an equivalent registry; or successful completion of a formal program of instruction for laboratory assistants at a hospital or academic institution.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

JOB KNOWLEDGE

Fundamental working knowledge of concepts practices and procedures and ability to apply in varied situations.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises Student workers only

BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES

No fiscal responsibility for the departments budget.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION:

Expected Salary Range

15.05 - 15.05

Salary is dependent upon several factors including but not limited to a candidates previous experience knowledge skills and performance in accordance with Clemsons compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL:

Normal Operations - Required to follow emergency facility closure and modified operations directives and not normally expected to work on-site during emergency situations.
