Organized as a Lower School (PK-5) Middle School (6-8) and Upper School (9-12) CCS prides itself on being an independent co-educational non-sectarian prekindergarten through 12th grade located just outside of Charlestons metropolitan area. Job Description

The Kindergarten Teacher at Charleston Collegiate School is responsible for creating a nurturing engaging and developmentally appropriate learning environment that supports early childhood growth and exploration. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative educator with a passion for hands-on play-based and project-based learning (PBL) utilizing the schools outdoor campus to enhance student experiences.

  • Develop and implement a dynamic child-centered curriculum that fosters early literacy numeracy social-emotional learning and inquiry-based exploration. Lessons should integrate hands-on activities cross-curricular connections and foundational skills in reading writing and math.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of young learners using assessments and observations to tailor support and enrichment opportunities.
  • Foster a warm and inclusive classroom community that encourages curiosity independence collaboration and problem-solving through structured routines and positive behavior support.
  • Integrate Charleston Collegiate Schools core valuesempathy integrity community optimism and advocacyinto daily interactions and lessons.
  • Leverage the schools outdoor campus to provide experiential learning opportunities environmental studies and nature-based activities that support student engagement and development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and families to support student growth align teaching practices and share insights on child development and learning progress.
  • Communicate regularly with families providing updates on student progress classroom experiences and strategies for supporting learning at home.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current on best practices in early childhood education PBL and social-emotional learning.
  • Encourage meaningful connections between students and the broader community integrating service-learning and community engagement into the curriculum when appropriate.


Qualifications

  • College Degree (minimum Bachelors)
  • Good working knowledge of Google Suite
  • Efficient typing email database spreadsheet and internet skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively and get along with co-workers and management
  • Ability to maintain regular and timely attendance
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment problem-solve and manage multiple projects
  • Ability to present a professional image as a representative of the School
  • Current in advanced first-aid training or equivalent
