Job Summary

Position Title:Kindergarten Education Support Professional (ESP)
Reports To:Building Principal Assistant Principal and Classroom Teacher
Position Summary:
The Kindergarten Education Support Professional (ESP) assists the classroom teacher in providing a safe supportive and engaging learning environment for kindergarten students. The ESP works collaboratively with teachers and staff to support students academic social-emotional behavioral and physical needs throughout the school day.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Support the implementation of daily classroom instruction and routines under the direction of the classroom teacher.
  • Work with individual students and small groups to reinforce academic skills and classroom expectations.
  • Assist students with literacy math social-emotional learning and classroom activities.
  • Help maintain a positive nurturing and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Support students during transitions specials lunch recess arrival and dismissal.
  • Assist with classroom organization preparation of instructional materials and maintenance of learning spaces.
  • Reinforce behavioral expectations and support positive student behavior using school-based strategies and interventions.
  • Provide supervision to ensure student safety at all times.
  • Support students with personal care needs as required including toileting dressing feeding or mobility assistance in accordance with student plans and district policies.
  • Collaborate with teachers specialists counselors and administrators to support student success.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and records.
  • Participate in professional development and training opportunities as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or supervising teacher.
Qualifications:
  • Associate degree or proof of passing score on the ETS ParaPro Assessment.
  • Experience working with young children in a school or childcare setting preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with students staff and families.
  • Demonstrated patience flexibility and positive interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to support students with varying academic behavioral and developmental needs.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to actively supervise and engage with young children throughout the school day.
  • Ability to lift bend kneel and assist students as needed.
  • Ability to move throughout the building and playground areas.
Terms of Employment:
  • School-year position in accordance with district calendar and collective bargaining agreement if applicable.
  • Salary and benefits established by district policy and/or negotiated agreement.
