Position Title:Kindergarten Instructional Aide
Department/Section:Thomas Elementary School
Supervisor:Principal

Hourly Rate:$18.35 - $19.10/hour (Depending on Experience)
Pay Grade:21
Schedule: 28.5 hours/week; 8:00-2:45 M-Th 8:00-11:45 Fri; 9-month position; non-benefit eligible; Arizona State Retirement System eligible.

DUTIES:

1. Assist the classroom teacher in implementing daily lesson plans and instructional activities for individual students small groups or the whole class under the teachers direction.

2. Reinforce academic skills (reading writing math and other subjects) by working with students individually or in small groups to review practice and reinforce concepts introduced by the teacher.

3. Supervise students during classroom activities recess lunch restroom breaks and transitions between activities to ensure a safe and orderly learning environment.

4. Prepare instructional materials including copying cutting laminating and organizing worksheets manipulatives learning centers and other classroom resources.

5. Assist with classroom management including helping to maintain appropriate student behavior redirecting off-task students and supporting the implementation of behavior plans as directed by the teacher.

6. Support students with special needs including English language learners and students with IEPs or 504 plans by providing individualized attention and implementing accommodations as instructed.

7. Assist with daily routines and self-help skills such as helping young children with dressing hygiene snack/mealtime and other developmentally appropriate tasks common in kindergarten settings.

8. Monitor and document student progress including assisting with recordkeeping grading simple assignments and providing feedback to the teacher on student performance and behavior.

9. Set up and maintain the classroom environment including arranging learning centers bulletin boards and materials to support a safe clean and engaging space for young learners.

10. Assist with technology use helping students operate computers tablets or other instructional technology and educational software as part of classroom instruction.

12. Instruct small group intervention in primary grade levels with scripted materials.

13. Perform other duties as assigned as directed by the classroom teacher and site administrator.


QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidate must meet NCLB qualifications; NCLB 60 post-secondary hours of college coursework or minimum of an AA Degree (or higher) or meet the minimum score required on an Arizona Department of Education approved test. Call 928.774-1103 for more information and to schedule a testing time.)In addition please submit documentation showing how you meet the NCLB requirement (attach transcripts copy of degree or copy of parapro assessment scores).
