Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated FULL TIMEVeterinary Kennel Assistant to join our esteemed team at El Paso Animal Emergency Center. As a Veterinary Kennel Assistant you will play a crucial role in providing excellent care and support to our animal patients and their owners. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the comfort cleanliness and well-being of the animals in our care as well as assisting our veterinary staff with various tasks to facilitate the smooth operation of our hospital.
El Paso Animal Emergency Center is a 24/7 emergency veterinary hospital located at 1220 Airway Blvd. We are equipped with advanced diagnostics including digital radiography ultrasound in-house lab hyperbaric oxygen therapy CT MRI and much more.
Key Responsibilities:
- Animal Care and Support:
- Provide compassionate and attentive care to animals in the kennel ensuring their physical and emotional needs are met.
- Assist with walking feeding and administering medications as directed by veterinary staff.
- Observe animals for any signs of distress illness or behavior changes and promptly report concerns to veterinarians or veterinary technicians.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary kennel environment by regularly cleaning and disinfecting cages runs and common areas.
- Launder and sanitize bedding towels and other animal-related items.
- Properly dispose of waste and ensure waste areas are kept clean and organized.
- Safely and gently handle animals following established protocols for restraint to ensure the safety of both animals and staff.
- Assist veterinary staff during procedures and examinations providing support as needed.
- Interact with pet owners in a professional and friendly manner providing updates on their pets well-being and addressing any questions or concerns.
- Assist with check-in and check-out procedures ensuring a smooth experience for both clients and their pets.
- Assist with maintaining the overall cleanliness and organization of the clinic/hospital including exam rooms treatment areas and public spaces.
- Assist with inventory management restocking supplies and maintaining a well-organized supply storage area.
Qualifications:
- Genuine passion for animals and a strong commitment to their welfare.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with clients team members and veterinarians.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions and protocols accurately.
- Physical capability to lift carry and restrain animals of varying sizes.
- Basic computer skills for record keeping and communication purposes.
- Previous experience in a veterinary setting or animal care role is a plus.
