K-8 Physical Education and Health Teacher

The Learning Community a vibrant public charter school that centers the voices of students families and teachers seeks a collaborative dedicated K-8 Physical Education and Health teacher passionate about supporting students to grow academically and this role you will build their foundation and knowledge for a healthy and active life by inspiring and educating our diverse student body about the importance of physical mental and emotional to Day Responsibilities:Develop and implement a comprehensive health/physical education curriculum that aligns with state standards and addresses the physical mental and emotional well-being of health and/or physical education classes to students in kindergarten through 8th grade using age-appropriate and culturally relevant a classroom environment that encourages student participation promotes positive health behaviors and supports diverse learning lessons on nutrition physical activity personal hygiene mental health substance abuse prevention and with other educators school counselors and administration to support the holistic development of assessments to evaluate student learning and provide constructive feedback to students and and participate in school-wide health initiatives events and accurate records of student progress attendance and current with developments in health education and adapt teaching methods and materials guidance and support to students on health and wellness related issues and refer them to appropriate resources when a positive and inclusive school culture that respects and values teachers administrative tasks that help the school move forward like student attendance behavioral data entry in Kickboard and similar work in a timely and accurate relationships with families through positive phone calls updates about student progress and behavior and being responsive to in school-wide responsibilities and events as needed (ranging from arrival/dismissal duties an advisory period each day and parent-teacher conferences to whole-team planning meetings in-service learning days and our summer in-service in August).Meet with coaches your manager and others as needed to receive feedback on your performance and act on that needed duties to support the success of your students and our school (no more than 5% of your role).Minimum Qualifications: To be considered for this position all candidates must be certified in Physical Education and Health Education in the state of Rhode Island and must be U.S. citizens or residents or have work addition they must demonstrate:Strong teaching abilities especially with middle-grades students. Our teachers create safe engaging and rigorous learning addition were looking for individuals who are skilled in communicating with students and tailoring their teaching approach to the needs of their learners. Lastly middle-grades students are masters at pushing boundaries and asserting and advocating for their needs. The right candidate is able to be a warm demander: to build deep and trusting relationships with students while creating accountability for how they show up and take ownership of their own knowledge of the subject matter youll be teaching. Our teachers understand the content they are teaching and push themselves to stay current on their content area in order to raise the bar for their teaching and our a reliable collaborative and consistently strong colleague. Our teaching teams work closely together have planning time weekly and build on each others insights and strengths with students to meet their goals. At the Learning Community teachers must be committed to healthy communication with others working through conflict supporting their team and asking for the support they need. Strong problem-solving skills and resilience. Our teachers bring creativity problem-solving and an adaptable approach to most challenges while keeping student safety and respect for our students parents and school community front and center in their emotional intelligence and communication skills - especially in conflict or for trickier decisions. Salary Benefits and Other DetailsWorkday. This position is a full-time teacher of record role based at the Learning Community Charter School in Central Falls Rhode Island. All teachers are expected to work 7:45-3:15 pm most days except for Wednesdays where the hours are 7:45 am-4:45pm due to whole team meetings with 1.5 hours of planning daily including shared team prep time and lunch/break time every day. Additionally the individual will be required to attend Summer Institute in August prior to the start of each school year. Salary.
