Job Summary

Summary:


Bennett Elementary School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a part-time paraprofessional. This role is essential in providing support to teachers and students in a K-5 environment fostering a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere. The ideal candidate will assist in delivering educational programs ensuring that all students receive the support they need to succeed academically and socially.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree or higher in education child development or a related field is preferred or must be able to become Highly Qualified through a national or local academic assessment to meet the Colorado Department of Education to ensure compliance with NCLB (No Child Left Behind)
  • Previous experience working with young children in an educational or childcare setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Patience empathy and a genuine passion for supporting the development of young learners.
  • Ability to follow directions and adapt to the needs of individual students and modify approaches as necessary.
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid is a plus.
  • Satisfactory completion of criminal background check

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist classroom teachers in implementing lesson plans and educational activities.
  • Support individual students and small groups in their learning ensuring they understand and engage with the curriculum.
  • Monitor student behavior and provide guidance to promote positive interactions and conflict resolution.
  • Help maintain a safe and clean classroom environment including organizing materials and resources.
  • Participate in the assessment of student progress and contribute to the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) under the guidance of certified staff.
  • Communicate effectively with teachers parents and other staff members to foster a collaborative educational environment.
  • Assist with daily routines including arrival and dismissal procedures snack time and outdoor play.
  • Supervise students during lunch recess and other non-classroom activities ensuring safety and compliance with school policies.
  • Attend staff meetings training sessions and professional development opportunities as required.
  • Foster a warm and inclusive atmosphere that encourages social and emotional development among students.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

CONTRACT: 150 Days
