Job Summary

Job Overview:

The Junior Varsity High School Assistant Football Coach is responsible for helping to lead mentor and develop student-athletes in our high school program. This role includes helping to plan and implement training programs organizing competitive play and fostering a positive and competitive team environment. The assistant coach will work closely with players parents head coaches and school administration to ensure the teams success both on and off the field.

Qualifications:

  • Previous high school or collegiate level coaching experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of football techniques strategies and Northview High School and Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA)
  • Excellent leadership communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
  • Certification in CPR AED and First aid and CPR or willingness to complete upon hire.

Directly Responsible To:

  • High School Athletic Director

Assigned Responsibilities:

Team Management:

  • Help develop and implement a comprehensive training and practice schedule.
  • Conduct regular practices and drills to enhance player skills and team cohesion.
  • Help develop game strategies and make tactical decisions during games.
  • Help to organize and manage team travel including transportation and accommodations if necessary.

Player Development:

  • Assess individual players skills and provide personalized feedback and improvement plans.
  • Foster an environment that promotes teamwork discipline and sportsmanship.
  • Mentor and support players academic and personal growth.

Community and Parental Engagement:

  • Foster positive relationships with the school community.
  • Parent/Guardian meeting before the first scheduled game of the season to set expectations and overview of the season.

Fundraising

  • Fundraising must be completed by the coaching staff team and other community members involved to raise funds for expenses throughout the season. Money must be raised in order to have expenses including scrimmages camps tournaments apparel and other expenses throughout the year. See athletic administrative assistant for process of expenses and deposits.

Health Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure all players adhere to safety protocols and proper conditioning practices.
  • Address any injuries or health concerns promptly and in accordance with medical advice.
  • Comply with all Northview Public School policies and Michigan Association High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) rules and regulations.
  • Any other duties related to this position assigned by the Athletic Director.

Terms of Employment:

  • Football Season with off-season workouts abiding by the MHSAA off season rules and regulations.
  • This position follows the Northview Education Association Collective Bargaining Agreement (NvEA CBA) as a Supplementary Salary Schedule B-2 position. If a qualified member of the NvEA CBA can not be secured for the position an external candidate will follow an individual contract.
