The Technology division in the Department of Accounts (DOA) is seeking a qualified individual for a Junior Systems Engineer position.

DOAs mission is to provide a uniform system of accounting financial reporting and internal control adequate to protect and account for the Commonwealths financial resources while supporting and enhancing the recognition of Virginia as the best managed state in the union.

This position has a hybrid work schedule with three days per week working in the office in downtown Richmond VA.

All interviews will be done in-person. Virtual interviews and full-time remote work are not an option.

Job Duties

To serve as a Junior Systems Engineer for the agencys web platforms and technology services. Provides end user support in the areas of web applications software systems AV and hardware configurations. Assists in providing support for server database network and security administration functions. Ensures the availability and performance of the agencys applications and technology tools.
This position has a hybrid work schedule with three days per week working in the office in downtown Richmond VA.

Minimum Qualifications

KSAs and/or competencies required to successfully perform the work:
End User Support experience including the ability to directly resolve issues explain technical steps in a way non technical users can follow. Ability to prioritize support tickets identify urgent issues and escalate when needed. Competence with remote support tools to assist users who are off site or working from home.
Experience in documentation including ticketing resolution creation instructional media and keeping the supervisor apprised of all relevant support activities.
Web Application Support by assisting users with access and functionality issues.
Tier 2 experience with Active Directory including user account management group membership updates and advanced troubleshooting.
Experience administering Windows Server including basic configuration user and resource management and routine troubleshooting.

Additional Considerations

The following experience is preferred for this position:
SQL Server administration experience - including basic database maintenance and user permission support.
Vulnerability remediation experience - including assisting in identifying security issues and applying corrective actions.
VITA SEC 530 compliance experience - including supporting adherence to required state security standards.
SharePoint administration experience - including providing entry level site permission and configuration support.
Virginia State Government experience - including working within state operational and procedural environments.

May be required to perform additional duties as assigned. May be required to assist in the event of an emergency. There may be occasional needs to work outside of normal scheduled hours to meet department demands or deadlines.
