KBR is seeking a highly motivated Junior Software Engineer to join us in supporting our great nation supporting the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) development team in Colorado Springs CO.

As the Air Forces leader for National-to-Tactical capability development AFRL collaborates with leading experts across the Intelligence Community Department of Defense National Laboratories industry inter-agency academia and partner nations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the design development and maintenance of software for high-velocity data stream processing systems
• Support implementation of software features and enhancements under guidance from senior engineers
• Develop and maintain code using established engineering standards and best practices
• Participate in software testing activities including unit integration and system testing
• Troubleshoot and resolve software issues in development environments
• Assist with analysis of customer requirements and contribute to software design efforts
• Participate in code reviews and technical discussions to build engineering knowledge
• Generate and update technical documentation and project artifacts
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to support delivery objectives

Work Environment:

• Location: Colorado Springs CO 100% Onsite or Beavercreek OH 100% Onsite
• Travel Requirements: Minimal
• Working Hours: Standard

Required Qualifications:

• Knowledge of software development principles and object-oriented programming concepts
• Experience through academic internship research or personal projects using Java Python or another object-oriented language
• Understanding of software development lifecycle concepts including design implementation and testing
• Familiarity with version control systems and collaborative development environments
• Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and solve technical problems
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Required Education and Experience:

• Active U.S. Government Top Secret / SCI security clearance (U.S. citizenship required)
• Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Systems Engineering Mathematics or a related technical field
• 02 years of relevant experience

Desired Qualifications:

• Exposure to data processing systems networking or distributed computing concepts
• Familiarity with XML JSON Protocol Buffers or similar data formats
• Internship research or academic project experience developing software applications
• Exposure to Agile development methodologies
• Security certification
• Strong curiosity attention to detail and desire to continuously learn new technologies

Basic Compensation:$76500 - $114800 (For the Colorado Springs Area Only)
The offered rate will be based on the selected candidates knowledge skills abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.

Additional Compensation:

KBR may offer bonuses commissions or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of a sign on bonus relocation benefits short-term incentives long-term incentives or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
