Job Summary
Performs complex duties involving the installation and maintenance of overhead or underground power distribution lines used to conduct electrical energy between generating stations substations and consumers. Installs overhead equipment such as poles crossarms insulators arrestors switches and transformers and underground equipment such as primary wires vaults pad mounted transformers etc. Splices and insulates conductors and related wiring to join sections of power lines during repairs; interprets blueprints of line locations specifications and procedure books. Performs related duties as Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Status as a Journeyman Lineman. Must possess a valid class A Commercial Drivers License. Must complete required NIMS level training within first six months of Demands: Ability to climb poles and navigate all types of terrain. Ability to bend and lift equipment tools etc. weighing 50 to 100 lbs. Ability to work at heights of 25 ft. and above. Hand dexterity to operate job related equipment. Speech communication vision and hearing sufficient to communicate with other workers customers and property Working Conditions: Work is performed outdoors 95% of the time 5% performed in a warehouse dock or office setting. Exposure to outdoor conditions of extreme heat and cold and adverse weather conditions.
