Cable Technician

Experienced Cable Technician
2 years of cabling experience required
Must be knowledgeable in codes industry standards and best practices.
Must work well with little supervision individually and in a team environment.
DUTIES:
Will install with direct supervision: cable pathway systems fire stop systems various electronic components and various cable that includes but is not limited to: twisted pair cable coax fiber optic & low voltage cable.
Cable installation includes: placement termination testing labeling and documentation.
Plans network installations by using work orders plans manuals and technical specifications; ordering and gathering equipment supplies materials and tools assessing installation site.
Establishes voice and data networks by running pulling terminating and splicing copper and fiber optic cables.
Mounts telecommunications equipment routers switches multiplexors cable trays and alarm systems; installation of racks and cabinets all while following industry standards best practices and manufacturer requirements.
Install cable pathway systems (cable trays cable racks J-hooks or D-rings) by using power or manual fasteners drills or other power equipment.
Install or maintain existing fire stopping systems in conduits trays wall/ceiling/floor penetrations.
Documents network by labeling and routing equipment and cables; recording configuration diagrams and specifications.
Maintains customer rapport by listening to and resolving concerns; answering questions.
Maintains safe work environment by following codes standards and legal requirements.
Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
