About This Role:

Key Responsibilities

• Develop test and maintain backend services and APIs using Java and the Spring Framework
• Collaborate Product Owner and QA to deliver high-quality features
• Write clean well-tested maintainable code following team standards and best practices
• Participate in code reviews design discussions and Agile ceremonies (sprint planning standups retros)
• Troubleshoot and resolve defects and production issues (on call support is required for this role)
• Contribute to technical documentation
• Work with relational databases to design and optimize queries and schemas
• Support the evolution of services within a microservice architecture with opportunities to grow AWS and cloud deployment skills

The Ideal Candidate for This Role:

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science Engineering or related field or equivalent practical experience
• 35 years of professional experience developing applications in Java
• Hands-on experience with Spring Framework (version 3 or 4)
• Solid understanding of object-oriented design principles
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs
• Experience working with relational databases (SQL schema design query writing)
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g. Git)
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

• Experience with PostgreSQL specifically
• Experience with microservices architecture and design patterns
• Experience deploying or working with applications on AWS (e.g. EC2 ECS Lambda RDS)
• Familiarity with containerization tools (Docker Kubernetes)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines
• Exposure to newer Spring Boot / Spring 5 concepts

Compensation:

This role may have a specific starting pay within this range.

Final compensation offer to candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon work experience education and/or skill level.
