Job Summary
Nevada Department of Wildlife is recruiting for IT Technician 5 within the Data and Technology Services Division. The position supports all aspects of the Departments IT infrastructure including desktop computer support including deployment maintenance and help desk requests. Other responsibilities include software management and support including O365; Printer and print server management; Installing and troubleshooting local and wide area networks; Installing and maintaining physical and virtual servers; Active Directory user account creation and management; O365 Exchange Server management; using Windows Deployment Services for computer setups; and Mobile device management. The incumbent will travel within the State of Nevada up to 30% to other NDOW offices. Incumbent will support the physical and digital installation configuration monitoring and maintenance of hardware and software associated with the functions listed above along with ensuring security requirements are met regarding networking server and computer configuration and use mobile devices and other aspects of IT infrastructure. This includes specialized security requirements for Law Enforcement infrastructure.
This position works closely with the IT Professional 4 to make recommendations for improving IT infrastructure policies and procedures. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are desired to support and train Department staff on the use of IT infrastructure. The position requires attention to detail and high levels of organization as well as the ability to prioritize and accomplish diverse tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
Information Technology (IT) Technicians install configure monitor and maintain networks and monitor and maintain help desk user support or mainframe and server operations. Incumbents may perform duties associated with one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.
Essential Qualifications
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of IT work experience in the installation maintenance and repair of network workstation hardware and software; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Technician IV in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Job Duties
Participate in the development and revision of policies and procedures related to a functional area; review policies and procedures for changes applicable to IT; maintain operations tasks security and/or functional area logs; review instructions from other IT staff and correct or return for revisions as necessary.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Under general supervision incumbents provide network support for work group business functions; enable data transfer peripheral sharing and applications sharing within the work group to include wireless transport methods. Duties are performed in accordance with established standards for hardware software and work group functionality. This is the journey level for network operations and support.

Ability to: install and maintain work group operating systems; identify and correct hardware and software problems; provide effective customer service to users; communicate effectively orally and in writing; upgrade hardware components on the base unit; configure applications for optimum performance; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; and interview users to identify needs and resolve workstation issues.
