AL-RAHMAH SCHOOL & NURSERY Islamic Society of Baltimore 6631 Johnnycake Road Baltimore MD.719.0921 1 Job Title: Cafe Associate Job Type: Part-time Job Category: 10- 1 Job Purpose: The Café Team Member Front End/Cashier Support is responsible for providing friendly efficient and welcoming customer service to all guests of the Islamic Society of Baltimore Café. This role serves as the first point of contact for customers ensuring accurate order taking payment processing and maintaining a clean organized front-of-house environment while reflecting the values of hospitality respect and professionalism. Job Description / Responsibilities Include: Greet customers warmly and provide excellent customer service. Accurately take food and beverage orders. Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system and process cash credit card and digital payments. Answer customer questions regarding menu items ingredients and pricing. Prepare beverages and other simple café items as assigned. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the cashier station dining area and beverage station. Restock front counter supplies beverages condiments and packaged items throughout the shift. Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment. Handle customer concerns professionally and escalate issues when necessary. Follow food safety sanitation and health regulations at all times. Assist with opening and closing duties including cleaning stocking and balancing the cash drawer. Support other café operations as needed during busy periods. Skills/Qualifications: Excellent customer service and communication skills. Basic math skills and ability to accurately handle cash transactions. Ability to learn and operate a POS system. Reliable punctual and able to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds. Previous cashier or food service experience is preferred but not required. Preferred Qualities: Friendly and welcoming personality. Strong attention to detail. Team-oriented with a positive attitude. Dependable and flexible with scheduling. Appreciation for serving a diverse community in a faith-based environment.
