The VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System serves over 230000 veterans in the Las Vegas metropolitan area and is part of the VA Sierra Pacific Network (VISN 21). The main medical center located at 6900 N. Pecos Road in North Las Vegas is a state-of-the-art facility offering comprehensive medical surgical and mental health services. The Radiology Service features advanced diagnostic imaging capabilities including CT MRI ultrasound nuclear medicine and interventional radiology. Cardiac/Vascular Interventional Technologist Responsibilities
- Perform cardiac catheterization angiography and a full range of interventional radiology procedures including stent placements embolizations and vascular access procedures
- Operate and maintain specialized interventional imaging equipment including biplane fluoroscopy C-arm and digital subtraction angiography (DSA) systems
- Assist interventional radiologists and cardiologists during complex invasive procedures using sterile surgical technique
- Prepare sterile trays catheters contrast media guidewires and specialized devices; maintain sterile field throughout procedures
- Monitor patient hemodynamic status during procedures; recognize and respond to cardiac arrhythmias and other critical changes
- Administer contrast media and medications as directed; manage IV access and monitor for adverse reactions
- Perform post-processing of images using PACS and specialized workstations; ensure proper archival and availability for interpretation
- Participate in on-call rotation for emergent interventional procedures
- Practice radiation safety adhere to ALARA principles and participate in quality assurance activities
- Maintain and troubleshoot interventional suite equipment; coordinate with biomedical engineering for repairs
Cardiac/Vascular Interventional Technologist Qualifications
- Current ARRT registration in Radiography (R); additional certification in Cardiac Interventional (CI) and/or Vascular Interventional (VI) required
- Current ACLS and BLS/BCLS certification (American Heart Association or equivalent)
- Minimum 2 years of experience in cardiac catheterization lab and/or interventional radiology
- Proficiency with hemodynamic monitoring sterile surgical technique and interventional equipment
- Knowledge of cardiac anatomy vascular anatomy and interventional procedural protocols
- VA or federal healthcare experience preferred but not required
