Department Details

Schedule procedures for Bismarck interventional radiology and cardiology departments. Work closely with providers nurses technologists and ancillary staff for planning of procedures and follow up appointments.

Daily tasks include but are not limited to: scheduling and coordinating procedures scheduling clinic appointments prior authorization registration review pre-procedure preparation with the patient and assisting with patients in the clinical setting.

Summary

Serves as Sanford systems administrator for both in-house and outpatient scheduling which includes
responsibility for the maintenance security teaching and analytical recovery offered by the scheduling system.

Job Description

The Interventional Radiology (IR) Scheduler supports patient access for complex specialty services by combining advanced scheduling responsibilities with clinically informed decision-making. This role requires Radiology licensure to ensure appointments are scheduled safely appropriately and in alignment with clinical patients in accordance with established clinical and operational policies ensuring accurate timelyand clinically appropriate appointment placement. Reviews referral information provider orders diagnosticresults and clinical documentation to confirm correct service provider and urgency level. Verifiesdemographics insurance and authorization requirements to support compliant billing and continuity of provider schedules across multiple locations managing daily changes such as urgent add-onsprovider-directed cancellations and rescheduling. Applies clinical judgment to balance access needs with patientsafety and clinical appropriateness collaborating closely with nursing and provider as a clinical liaison for patient inquiries related to symptoms procedures and scheduling medical terminology and clinical knowledge to identify red flags route concerns through establishedtriage pathways and ensure timely escalation to nursing or provider staff when clinically appropriate sequencing of care including coordination of clinic visits diagnostic testing andprocedures based on clinical context and provider guidance. Monitors scheduling work queues to ensure referralsand orders are complete accurate and clinically delegated clinical support activities within scope of licensure and demonstrated competency whichmay include pre-visit planning support pending medication refills for provider review maintaining clinicalsupplies and assisting with care coordination documentation. Contributes to the evaluation of the plan of careby gathering observing recording and communicating patient responses to nursing interventions. Implementsinterventions that are assigned ordered or prescribed by licensed practitioners or registered nurses. Observespatients documents and reports on changes in patient conditions such as adverse reactions to medication ortreatment and takes any necessary compliance with regulatory licensure HIPAA and organizational standards. Demonstratesaccountability for patient safety confidentiality accuracy and high-quality service while working collaborativelywith PAS nursing and provider teams to support efficient and clinically sound access to care.

Qualifications

Satisfactory completion of formal radiologic technology training in an American Medical Association (AMA) approved school is required.

Minimum of one year experience as a staff radiologic technologist preferred.

Registration through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required. Due to Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence (DICO) Accreditation if working in North Dakota (ND) and performing medical imaging interventional radiology or radiation therapy procedures licensure through the North Dakota Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (NDMIRT) Board is required. Vascular Interventional Technology (VI) certification required at Life Support (BLS) required within six weeks of employment and re-certification as necessary required.
