Intervention Center Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY:Responsible for supporting student behavioral growth and success at schools throughout Stanislaus County by providing individualized intervention services de-escalation support and restorative practices to students referred to the Intervention Center

DUTIES:

1. Provide intervention services to students referred to the Intervention Center due to inappropriate or disruptive school behavior
2. Meet individually with students to enhance wellness and life skills such as:
   1. Wellness promotion and education
   2. Mental health literacy
   3. Goal setting/planning
   4. Behavior activation distraction strategies and emotional regulation
   5. Utilize de-escalation techniques and restorative justice practices to support conflict resolution and student growth
3. Screening such as:
   1. Supporting youth in completing behavioral health screenings
   2. Administering universal screening programs in schools or other community-based organizations per SAMHSA guidelines under the direction of qualified professionals.
   3. Identifying and referring behavioral health needs of youth to behavioral health providers in school or broader organization setting
4. Care coordination and extension such as:
   1. Connecting individuals to internal and external behavioral health resources as needed
   2. Facilitating communication with other professionals providing support and care to youth
   3. Providing additional support to providers caregivers school or broader organization personnel
5. Navigating crisis including:
   1. Using a standardized protocol respond to signs of crisis in the school or broader organization setting
   2. Identifying potential risks and referring to the on-site behavioral health provider
   3. Providing emotional support and engaging in warm handoffs with on-site behavioral health providers for youth that are waiting to be seen for crisis services
6. Responsible for collecting and completing statistical information case files program forms and providing appropriate and accurate documentation per program requirements and agency needs.
7. Responsible for completing contract hours as assigned.
8. Responsible for implementation of projects as assigned by Supervisor.
9. Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Minimum B.A. /B.S. in Social Services or related fields.
2. Experience and ability to work effectively with youth adults and community members.
3. Demonstrate written and oral communication skills.
4. Pass agency paid criminal justice screening including fingerprints
5. Pass agency paid TB (Tuberculosis) screening.
6. Pass agency paid health screening and/or drug testing if required.
7. Valid California drivers license and proof of auto insurance coverage.
8. Pass agency paid MVR clearance with no more than 2 points - if you are under the age of 25 our insurance company will not allowany points.

6. Participate in assigned scheduled agency meetings in-service trainings conferences and other trainings as determined by the supervisor. This includes serving as an agency representative at assigned community meetings.
7. Observance of assigned working hours and program appointments by demonstrating promptness and thorough preparation.
8. Performance of assigned duties with a positive attitude and in the spirit of teamwork collaboration and cooperation.
9. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
10. Perform job duties in a safe manner to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and others.
11. Participates in and/or supports agency fund development activities and events.
12. Preparation of assigned reports work records statistical data job performance evaluations work plans a timely manner.
