Summary

QuEra Computing Inc. seeks a Quantum Applications Research Intern to join our growing team of scientists and engineers developing quantum applications for QuEras neutral atom quantum computers. As an intern you will collaborate with leading experts in quantum information and AMO physics to explore model and test new approaches for using neutral atoms for quantum computation. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to gain hands-on experience at the intersection of theory and hardware contributing directly to the advancement of scalable quantum computing.

Possible internship projects include mapping quantum simulation algorithms for strongly correlated spin and fermionic problems onto logical microarchitectures the development of scalable hardware-aware resource estimation tools for complex quantum workloads and noise modeling to further refine QuEras digital hardware twins. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and those received before Nov. 15 2026 are guaranteed full consideration. Internship terms are flexible including outside the summer and can be arranged around candidates availability.

Qualifications

• Solid background in quantum computing and quantum information processing
• Strong communication skills and enthusiasm for cross-disciplinary collaboration

Preferred Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in or have completed a Ph.D. program in Physics Computer Science or a related field
• Strong programming skills and experience with quantum circuit simulation SDKs (e.g. cirq or Qiskit stim)
• Experience using AI coding agents (Claude Code Cursor or similar) as part of a real research or development workflow
• Experience with resource estimation frameworks (e.g. Qualtran)
• Familiarity with neutral atom quantum computing hardware and AMO physics
