POSITION TITLE: WORKING FOREMAN

DPW HIGHWAY DIVISION

AFSCME LOCAL 1700 GRADE 10

FULL-TIME (40 HOURS PER WEEK)

PAY RANGE: $65139.36 TO $87560.72 PER YEAR

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform advanced levels of personal management operate departmental equipment verbal and written communication and hand laboring skills within the Highway Department.
• Must be able to operate small equipment such as roadside mower sidewalk plow compressors etc.
• Must be able to operate equipment such as twelve (12) ton roller grader sweeper front-end loader with two (2) yard bucket and backhoe
• Act as lead person on work crews.
• Prepare routine records logs and reports.
• Provide verbal and written daily planning and scheduling of work crews and work assignments in coordination with the General Foreman or in his absence the Highway Superintendent
• Respond to routine inquiries requests and complaints from residents contractors etc.
• Assist outside contractors engaged in construction and repair activities.
• Assist other Town departments with repairs or other projects as required.
• Operate and Coordinate snow emergency response.
• Conduct and train others in the safe operation of power tools and heavy equipment.
• Maintain work area in a clean safe and operable condition and adhere to applicable safety and health rules and regulations.
• All other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Must be a positive team player and work in a collaborative environment

Education & Experience:

Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities will be considered. A typical candidate will have:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Truck Driver CDL Class B license required
• Must have Hoisting Engineer License class C
• Must have working knowledge of constructions plans and profiles.
• Must be willing to learn and advance to a higher grade
