James Madison Universitys Facilities Management is accepting applications for a Integrated Pest Management Technician. Shift is Monday Friday 6:30 a.m. 3:00 p.m. with overtime as required to cover special events and inclement weather. There is a slightly alternate schedule during the summer months.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Assists with the identification monitoring and management of agricultural and structural pests and plant diseases affecting campus landscapes and facilities.
Conducts or assists with inspections of indoor and outdoor properties and facilities both on and off campus to identify the presence of insects rodents plant diseases and other agricultural or structural pests.
Assists with the development implementation and maintenance of an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) schedule and calendar in coordination with the supervisor including establishing and coordinating inspection timeframes.
Coordinates and schedules pest management inspections with customers supervisors and other appropriate personnel.
Applies approved pesticides chemicals and other pest management products in accordance with established IPM plans product label requirements and applicable federal state and local laws and regulations.
Maintains current Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and required documentation for pesticides chemicals and other products used in pest management activities.
Assists with the development and implementation of procedures for the proper storage handling and disposal of pesticides chemicals and other products that are no longer in use.
Performs general landscape maintenance and snow removal operations in accordance with the Facilities Management policies and established safety procedures.
Operates calibrates maintains and performs routine inspections of specialized tools equipment machinery and vehicles used in landscape maintenance pest management and snow removal operations.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Employee must work all home football games.
The employee in this position will be considered designated meaning the work performed is essential to university operations and the employee will be required to work during periods of authorized closings.

Qualifications:

Required
Knowledge of entrapment removal and extermination of pests.
Knowledge of pesticides herbicides etc.
Knowledge of landscaping practices and procedures.
Ability to correctly mix and apply pesticides herbicides insecticides specified equipment.
Able to identify pests and plant diseases or a strong willingness to learn.
Ability to use a variety of landscape equipment such as mowers weed eaters edgers blowers and snow removal.
Basic knowledge of leadership skills.
Effective communication skills written and verbal.
Ability to do physically demanding work for extended periods of time in a variety of environmental conditions.
Must have a current Virginia Pesticide Registered Technician License upon hire.
Must be at least 19 years old and possess a valid drivers license for a minimum of 24 consecutive months.
