Instructor of Classical Saxophone

Job Summary
The Department of Music is seeking a classical saxophone instructor to provide individual instruction group studio class and saxophone quartet coaching to saxophone students. Individual instruction will involve teaching .5-hour and 1-hour weekly lessons to approximately 7-11 undergraduate majors minors and non-majors. Studio class will occur 1 hour per week during which time students enrolled in private instruction will perform study collaborate and receive feedback collectively. Quartet coaching will occur 1 hour per week for students enrolled in the saxophone quartet chamber ensemble. The instructor will also be responsible for preparing students for end-of-semester juries and routine performances.
Preferred Qualifications Competencies And Experience
Doctorate in saxophone performance or closely related field; 2 years teaching experience at the college level; experience coaching small performance ensembles. Applicants with additional experience teaching private jazz saxophone lessons particularly at the collegiate level are encouraged to apply for both this position and the temporary jazz saxophone lecturer position available through the UNC Department of Music.
