Instructor, Mathematics (Part-TimeFull-Time) (Career Track)

The Department of Mathematics at the University of Arizona seeks highly qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Instructor. The primary role of the Instructor is to create an engaging and meaningful learning experience for students in courses at the level of calculus and below. We are looking for individuals who are dedicated to providing quality mathematics instruction and who will bring enthusiasm and expertise to this endeavor.

This position offers an excellent opportunity to work with other instructors to contribute to and to be part of an innovative teaching and learning environment. We are able to offer varied FTE depending on the needs of our program and the incumbent. All positions are in-person at the University of Arizona main campus in Tucson. This is an appointment for the 2026-2027 academic year. However the Department of Mathematics may provide opportunities for reappointment based on performance department needs and funding.

This is a non-tenure track teaching appointment. The rate of pay for this position is $45000 annually and will be prorated by a semester and an FTE between .50 1.00.

The Department of Mathematics is the campus home for the Mathematical Sciences; the place where members of our community create communicate and apply mathematics of the highest caliber. The Mathematics Graduate Program offers dynamic advanced areas of study leading to Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Mathematics preparing students for impactful careers in academia industry and beyond. Students in this program research various fields of Mathematics including Algebra Analysis Applied Math Geometry Math Education Probability and Statistics. • The primary responsibility is to teach in-person courses at the level of first-semestercalculus and below as needed by the department. For this academic year the workwill be focused on Math 100 which is a preparatory class for college-level math andMath 391 which is a training course for undergraduate learning assistants.
• Supervise undergraduate and graduate teaching assistants working with Math 100.
• Instructors are also expected to participate in various departmental activities suchas tutoring and mentoring programs. Full-time appointments usually requireteaching 12 credit hours each semester.
• Additional responsibilities include attendance at all appropriate course meetingsand related professional development sessions.

• Masters degree in mathematics mathematics education or statistics or a Mastersdegree in another field and 18 units of graduate credit in mathematics mathematicseducation or statistics.
• Significant experience teaching mathematics in a university or college setting at thelevel of first-semester calculus and below.
• Experience working with students with a variety of math backgrounds.
• Experience working with and supervising undergraduate and graduate teachingassistants.

• Experience suited to teach the full range of 100-level math courses including introductory statistics.
• Experience teaching at the University of Arizona.
• Experience working with University of Arizona practices and policies.
• Experience teaching and/or designing online courses.
