Job Summary
Founded in 1953 Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) located in scenic Upstate NY is a multi-campus College with locations in Troy and Malta New York. HVCC offers more than 80 degree and certificate programs in three schools: Business and Liberal Arts; Health Sciences; and Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM). Hudson Valley is one of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York (SUNY) system and serves nearly 9000 students each year. The college is a recognized leader in career and transfer preparation workforce training initiatives distance learning and service to a diverse population of students. Hudson Valley has an extension center in Malta NY known as HVCC North and sponsors the Capital District Educational Opportunity Center in Troy NY. Full Time Probationary
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Masters Degree in Mathematics Mathematics Education or in an appropriate related field to Mathematics from an accredited college or university. Other Masters Degrees considered if at least 15 credits in graduate level Mathematics courses have been completed. Previous teaching experience preferred. Willingness and ability to teach a variety of courses at various levels of Mathematics.
Such experience may include but is not limited to an academic/scholarly track record focused on diversity equity and inclusion; work volunteer/ unpaid/ community service; or related experience/ expertise in serving underserved or vulnerable areas and/ or populations. Daytime on-campus availability necessary - may include evening courses.
PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO CANDIDATES WHO ARE:
Current SUNY students alumni and/or Fellows.

DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES: The Instructor reports to the Department Chairperson of Computer Science and Mathematics and performs the following duties:
Provide instruction in Mathematics.
Evaluate student performance.
Participation on departmental division wide and college wide committees for the purpose of building community and fulfilling aspirations of professional development is encouraged and supported.
At the direction of the Department Chairperson faculty shall perform duties as specified in the Faculty Contract.
This role involves teaching courses that may be assigned at the HVCC main campus and/or the Malta campus.
The minimum salary for this position is $53000 and faculty appointments may be at the instructor or assistant professor level depending on qualifications and experience. This position includes benefits for 12 months but has a work obligation of a 10-month appointment (151 days) which reflects responsibilities during the fall and spring semesters. The annual assigned teaching load is between thirty (30) and thirty-three (33) contact hours typically distributed as eighteen (18) contact hours in the fall semester and fifteen (15) contact hours in the spring semester. Teaching load may include evening weekend and/or online assignments and there may be potential for additional compensation through voluntary overload.
