Job Description
The English department is seeking applicants for a part-time non-tenure track non-benefits eligible instructor position at the Athens campus for the Fall 2026 semester and the 2026-2027 academic year. The need for these positions is undetermined at this time and is dependent on operational need including enrollment and staffing. If a need arises the department will review and select candidates from this posting. Applications will be accepted into the pool on an ongoing basis through the close date listed in this posting. The instructor will teach first-year and/or advanced composition or another writing or literature course as assigned. Please see for details about the English program. English Department: The Department of English has 29 full-time faculty across the main campus and seven regional campuses and centers in Southern and Central Ohio. Situated within the College of Arts & Sciences the Department is committed to excellence in teaching research and service to the students it serves in the undergraduate major M.A. and Ph.D. degree programs and across the university in writing and humanities general education courses. To learn more about the successes of our English Department and student programs visit; . College of Arts & Sciences: This college is central to Ohio Universitys transformative learning experience. The foundational instruction for the entire university delivered through the general education and liberal arts curriculum is provided by the College of Arts and Sciences. The college provides the primary instruction for approximately one-third of the undergraduate majors on campus as well as half of the undergraduate credit hours on the Athens addition the college offers a number of masters programs and eight departments offer doctoral degrees. A&S faculty are at the heart of Ohio Universitys research activity. Ohio University. Established in 1804 Ohio University is the oldest public university in the state of Ohio. Our total enrollment is over 28000 students across the state and online. About 20000 of those students are undergraduates studying at our residential campus in Athensour quintessential college town thats nestled deep in the Appalachian foothills of beautiful Southeast Ohio. Our picturesque campus is located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains amidst scenic state and national parks and is just 75 minutes southeast of Columbus Ohio.
Minimum Qualifications
MA in English or minimally a masters degree and a cohesive set of 18 semester credit hours of discipline relevant graduate course work by start date of the appointment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with teaching of writing. Previous experience teaching English courses at Ohio University.
