HSU CHRISTIAN STANDARD REQUIREMENT FOR CONTACT INFORMATION:Human Resources or SUMMARY/SCOPE: Primary responsibilities willinclude teaching undergraduate Christian Studies courses advising students providingprogram support and engaging in other service responsibilities within theuniversity. Applicants with a graduate degreein Christian studies including theology biblical studies church history orministry education are asked to submit all required documents listed below. Theteaching load is 12 credit hours each Fall and Spring semester with a 9-monthcontract. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:These examples do notinclude all possible tasks & do not limit the assignment of related tasks. Teach undergraduate Christian Studies classes. Advise current and prospective students in undergraduateChristian Studies programs and majors. Collaborate effectively with university faculty staff andadministrators as well as members of the community. Participate in recruitment activities for the Logsdon Schoolof Theology as well as Hardin-Simmons University. Engage in ongoing professional development as well asscholarly work. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: There are no supervisor responsibilities for thisposition at this time. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: The successful candidate will have a required doctoraldegree from an ATS-accredited seminary or school of theology and extensiveinvolvement in the Baptist tradition. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This position is a Full-TimeExempt Level Faculty Position with a teaching load at the Hardin-SimmonsUniversity campus. Additional travel may be required for studentevaluation/sponsorship and/or professional development. Must be willing torelocate to Abilene Texas or the surrounding area to teach in-person classeson the HSU Campus. Musthave and maintain a valid Class C Drivers License and maintain a clear drivingrecord to be insurable under the university liability policy. Mustbe able to drive to complete work assignments on and off campus as needed. Provide service to the university through involvement withcommittees as well as university activities (e.g. commencement).
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to addsubtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numberscommon fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate ratio and percent andto draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solvepractical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situationswhere only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety ofinstructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.
COMPUTER SKILLS: To perform this job successfully an individual shouldhave knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; Internetsoftware; Payroll systems and Order processing systems.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10-25 pounds.
