Summary of Job Duties:
This is a half-time 9-month position. This academic appointment is non-tenured tract. The expectation is to teach four classes per academic year. Teaching duties will be consistent with half-time workload standards at UA Little Rock and include teaching four undergraduate classes each academic year. Service to the university will include working with students on competitions or other extracurricular projects. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:

BS in Construction Management Civil Engineering or related field with three (3) years experience in construction engineering or related field.

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

Currently active or employed in the construction or engineering profession with ten (10) years experience holding or able to obtain within one year a Professional Engineer license in Arkansas Master or Ph.D. in Construction Civil Engineering or related field.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in shared faculty governance and departmental committees.

  • Foster relationships with industry.

  • Perform other duties as needed in the department college and university.

  • Develop and teach undergraduate engineering and/or construction courses and labs;

  • Coordinate with industry sponsors on senior design projects; Participate in program assessment and accreditation activities as needed; and be

  • Actively involved in student activities such as student organization and competition teams.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability through education and training to teach at least four of the following courses;

  • Estimating scheduling project management heavy construction construction contracts construction plans and specifications Construction Administration mechanical electrical and plumbing systems materials safety surveying Engineering Statics Engineering Mechanics Structural Analysis Reinforced concrete design Structural steel design Hydraulics/fluid mechanics.
