Job Description
The Department of Communication Studies at Marshall University invites applications for a nine-month one-year temporary (non-tenure track) instructor position starting in Fall 2026. We seek candidates who can teach a variety of online and/or in-person courses in our undergraduate curriculum including: Introduction to Speech Communication Communication in Relationships Communication in Groups Leadership Dynamics Intercultural Communication and Persuasive Communication. Primary responsibilities include a) teaching courses at the undergraduate level both online and face-to-face; b) holding office hours and engaging with students to aid their success c) developing excellent lecture and interactive classroom experiences using best pedagogical practices d) and/or other duties as designated by the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and/or Chair of the Department of Communication Studies. The teaching load is four courses per semester. Completed applications will include: 1) A cover letter that speaks to the candidates ability to engage successfully with the primary responsibilities listed above; 2) Curriculum vitae that includes contact information for three professional references; 3) Teaching philosophy 4) Unofficial transcripts (undergraduate and graduate) Additional documents may be requested from applicants.
