POSITION SUMMARY:
- The Instructional Paraprofessional is responsible for providing support to the intervention program within assigned classroom with specific responsibility for improving students success in basic academics (reading and math); relieving teachers of clerical tasks; and assisting students by modeling the skills necessary to perform assignments.

TheInstructionalParaprofessional:
- Administers a variety of assigned activities (e.g. tests homework assignments make-up work etc.) for the purpose of supporting teachers in the classroom. *
- Attends meetings (e.g. in-service presentations and staff meetings) for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions. *
- Communicates with supervising instructional staff and professional support personnel for the purpose of assisting in evaluating progress and implementing IEP objectives. *
- Evaluates students during the course of the school day (e.g. completion of assignments life skills response sequence etc.) for the purpose of taking action and/or providing referral for resolution. *
- Maintains a variety of materials (e.g. instructional materials files records charts etc.) for the purpose of ensuring availability of items providing written reference and meeting mandated requirements. *
- Monitors individual and/or groups of students in a variety of settings for the purpose of ensuring students are in a safe and appropriate environment. *
- Promotes good study habits for the purpose of improving the quality of student outcomes. *
- Manages a variety of assigned activities for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment. *
- Monitors students during assigned periods within a variety of school environments for the purpose of maintaining a safe and positive school environment. *
- Provides instruction to students in a variety of individual and group activities (e.g. reading spelling self-esteem behavioral skills daily living skills etc.) for the purpose of reinforcing instructional objectives; implementing IEP plans and ensuring students success in school all under the supervision of assigned teacher. *
- Provides adapted classroom activities assignments and materials under the direction of the supervising teacher (e.g. reading circles one-on-one math instruction etc.) for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom objectives. *
- Provides feedback of observations for the purpose of informing teachers and administrators of student progress. *
- Responds to inquiries from a variety of sources for the purpose of solving problems providing information and directing to other sources. *
- Responds to emergency situations (e.g. injured student school drills etc.) for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and directing to appropriate personnel for resolution. *
- Tutors students on assigned class work for the purpose of providing ongoing support in the completion of work assignments. *
- Follows the policies and procedures of the school and the District. *
- Demonstrates a sense of professional responsibility such as demonstrating ethical behavior; providing accurate data and reports when needed; meeting deadlines; maintaining confidentiality; caring for the equipment and materials; and dressing appropriately and presenting a good role model. *

SKILLS KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Ability to use effective communication skills; ability to use time effectively; good organizational skills; ability to maintain a positive relationship with other staff by collaborating and working cooperatively with them (including supervisors); ability to operate standard office equipment and software applications; ability to prepare and maintain accurate records; knowledge of instructional techniques; knowledge of safety practices and procedures; knowledge of conflict resolution; knowledge of child development/behavior; ability to maintain a clam demeanor; ability to maintain confidentiality; and ability to meet deadlines and schedules.
Mandatory: Minimum of high school education or GED.
Preferred: 1 years of experience working in a school is preferred.
