Job Summary

Essential Functions
Personnel Supervision and Technical Training 45% Professional Development: Train student employees on asset management program point-of-sale program SSC procedures and processes emphasizing customer service and technical training on basic maintenance of equipment. Mentorship: Provide consistent oversight and guidance to student employees including mentorship to ensure student employees meet the operational standards of the Science Operations division. Supervision and Judgment: Hire schedule and supervise approximately eight student employees. Develop quarterly work schedules for student employees. Responsible for daily SSC operations and decision-making. Problem Solving and Conflict Resolution: Act as the first point of contact for faculty staff and students to address equipment or service-related issues mitigate equipment resource conflicts and respond to customer service requests. Teamwork: Assist the broader instruction and classroom support team with division-wide needs represent the SSC in divisional meetings identify and address emerging logistical tasks necessary to support the science curriculum. Logistics and Asset Management 45% Program Oversight: Direct and execute the scientific equipment asset program to manage a complex inventory of field and laboratory equipment for curricular use. Oversee tracking routine maintenance and simple repairs of equipment or coordinate with internal team and external vendors for complex maintenance and repair. Internal Sales Program: Manage the acquisition stocking and resale of laboratory consumables and chemicals for internal user groups. Responsibilities include inventory tracking monthly billing invoicing auditing and direct coordination with the college finance office. Software Administration: Serve as the primary operator for the scientific asset-tracking database chemical inventory database and point-of-sale software. Works with internal college staff and external vendors to resolve technical problems maintain systems and execute process improvements. Procurement and Revenue: Research technical specifications and coordinate divisional purchase requests with fiscal staff. Assess and process late fees or damage charges for returned or lost assets and assess recharges as needed. Continuity of Operations: Responsible for maintenance and updates of the SSC Operations Manual ensuring all operational logistical and financial workflows are documented in step-by-step SOPs. Safety Security and Operational Support 10% Facility Security: Direct student employees in daily lock-up tasks. Facilitate user access to restricted instrumentation and specialized laboratory spaces. Manage the SSC key checkout program and policies in coordination with Science Operations leadership. Chemical Safety: Oversee physical access and security of SSC chemical inventory SDS records and chemical safety training for SSC student employees. Safety: Responsible for safe lab operations within the SSC . Monitor routine safety testing tasks such as eyewash station testing fume hoods and inspections for all classroom laboratory spaces. Collect and submit safety data to campus Environmental Health and Safety division. Lab Support: Prepare reagents supplies and equipment in coordination with faculty to support undergraduate or graduate lab curriculum. Provide teaching and logistics support as needed.
