Work Schedule:

Four-Day Work Week:Our standard schedule is a four-day work week with two days in the office and two days remote. Due to the CA legislative schedule staff are scheduled to work specific five-day work weeks and there may also be occasions when workload or deadlines require a temporary shift to five days.

EnviroVoters is growing its institutional funding base and we need a fundraiser who can open new doors deepen existing partnerships and make the case for bold climate and justice work with confidence and creativity.

This is not a grant-administration role. The Institutional Giving Officer will drive the full arc of funder relationships from prospecting and cold outreach to oral pitches negotiations and stewardship while crafting the narratives that move funders to act. POSITION SUMMARY
As a key member of the Philanthropy Team the Institutional Giving Officer helps EnviroVoters and the Ed Fund secure new grants and renew existing ones to meet annual fundraising goals. This role cultivates and deepens relationships with institutional funders leads the development of compelling funding proposals manages a portfolio of donors through the full grant lifecycle and ensures that deadlines reports and payments stay on track.


KEY PRIORITIES

Build and steward a funder portfolio

  • Manage a portfolio of 1525 institutional donors implementing moves management strategies to cultivate solicit and steward relationships
  • Lead funder meetings from cultivation and oral pitches to stewardship and negotiations with strategic support from the Director of Institutional Giving
  • Develop and execute cold outreach strategies including introductory letters of inquiry and initial cultivation touchpoints

Develop compelling narratives and proposals

  • Craft mission-driven narratives that translate programs policy campaigns and community impact into emotionally resonant cases for support
  • Write and submit complete grant proposals including funder research project budgets and all required attachments
  • Produce quality foundation reports and ensure timely delivery

Prospect and expand the funding pipeline

  • Conduct proactive prospect research to identify and qualify new institutional funding opportunities aligned with EnviroVoters and the Ed Funds priorities
  • Prepare strategic program pitches based on deep funder research in collaboration with the Director of Institutional Giving
  • Develop a deep understanding of EnviroVoters programs goals and financial needs to seek new opportunities and report on impact

Drive grant management excellence

  • Project manage proposal development across departments ensuring applications are complete cohesive and on time
  • Ensure funding agreements are finalized signed and payments received on schedule
  • Work proactively with other departments to meet all programmatic and fiscal reporting requirements stipulated in grants
  • Provide internal guidance on permissible grant usage and support biweekly grants office hours


WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

We are looking for a skilled fundraiser and storyteller with a proven track record in institutional giving and a genuine commitment to climate and racial justice. Specifically:

  • Five or more years of grant and contracts management or related fundraising experience in a nonprofit environment
  • Direct donor engagement experience with consistent effective funder stewardship
  • Demonstrated ability to build funder relationships from prospecting through to successful asks
  • Strength in delivering oral and written pitches and conducting negotiations with funders
  • Deep understanding of the grant lifecycle including grant writing craft construction and submission
  • Strong organizational and time management skills ability to manage multiple proposals deadlines and stakeholders simultaneously
  • Ability to research analyze and synthesize information into persuasive cases for support
  • Exceptional attention to detail discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Raisers Edge/RENXT or similar CRM preferred
  • Passionate about environmental protection racial justice and meaningful social change


ADDITIONAL STRENGTHS WE WELCOME

  • Familiarity with Community Centric Fundraising principles
  • Experience with donor management software and CRMs
  • Background in environmental science political science communications nonprofit management public administration or a related field
