Compensation: $85000 - $110000 base salary

About the Role

We are seeking an Innovation Engineer to support the development of new packaging solutions product enhancements and innovative technologies that improve customer experience and drive business growth. This role combines customer engagement product development engineering collaboration and manufacturing execution.

The ideal candidate is naturally curious highly collaborative and passionate about identifying opportunities for improvement. Youll spend time engaging with customers observing how packaging performs in real-world environments and partnering with engineering and operations teams to bring new ideas to life.

This position is based in Middletown Ohio and requires approximately 25% travel to customer locations and industry events.

What Youll Do

• Visit customer facilities and observe how packaging products are used in real-world applications.
• Identify opportunities to improve packaging performance usability sustainability and efficiency.
• Translate customer needs into innovative product concepts packaging enhancements and equipment solutions.
• Partner with engineering teams to evaluate feasibility and develop manufacturable solutions.
• Support product development efforts from concept and design through testing trials and commercialization.
• Participate in manufacturing trials and help transition new products into production.
• Collaborate with customers operations engineering product development and commercial teams to drive innovation initiatives.
• Evaluate emerging technologies materials and packaging trends to support future growth opportunities.
• Attend customer meetings industry events and trade shows to identify new opportunities and strengthen relationships.
• Help solve technical and operational challenges through creative problem-solving and hands-on engineering.

What You Bring

• Bachelors degree in Engineering Packaging Engineering Materials Science Industrial Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Experience in product development innovation packaging manufacturing or a related engineering environment.
• Strong customer-facing communication and relationship-building skills.
• Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities and translate ideas into practical solutions.
• Experience working cross-functionally with engineering operations and commercial teams.
• Strong analytical troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Willingness to travel up to approximately 25%.

Preferred Qualifications

• Packaging industry experience.
• Experience with fiber-based packaging paper packaging flexible packaging or plastics packaging.
• Familiarity with converting processes and equipment used to manufacture bags mailers or other packaging products.
• Experience supporting manufacturing operations product commercialization or new product introduction.
• Experience working directly with customers to solve technical or operational challenges.
